Best Bank Switch Bonuses UK 2026

UK banks pay £100–£200 to move your current account across using CASS. This is the running list of every live switch bonus, what you need to do, and where you can stack cashback on top.

Switch bonus availability changes frequently. Always check the bank's own T&Cs before switching — minimum deposit, direct debit and timing requirements vary.

Switching your current account is the single easiest way to earn free money in the UK. The Current Account Switch Service (CASS) moves your direct debits, standing orders and salary across automatically in seven working days — and the receiving bank pays you £100–£200 for the privilege.

You can switch every 12 months without any credit-score hit as long as you meet the minimum-funding requirements (usually two direct debits and a one-off deposit of £1,000–£1,500). Most people can do three or four switches a year and pocket £500+ in bonuses.

This page tracks every live UK switch bonus. Where a cashback stack is available (Topcashback and Quidco sometimes pay an extra £10–£40 on top of the bank's own bonus), we flag it.

How it works

How CASS actually works: you apply for a new current account, tick the box to switch across from your existing bank, and set the switch date. On that date, your salary redirects, your direct debits move, and your old account closes. The whole thing takes seven working days and is guaranteed under the CASS scheme — if anything goes wrong, the new bank refunds any charges.

Requirements to watch: almost every switch bonus requires (1) closing your old account via CASS — a new-account opening doesn't count, (2) moving at least two active direct debits, and (3) depositing £1,000–£1,500 within a set window. Miss any of these and the bonus doesn't pay.

Frequently asked

How often can I switch banks for a bonus?

You can switch as often as you like, but most banks require you not to have held or closed an account with them in the last 12–36 months. In practice, most people do 3–4 switches a year rotating between different banks.

Does switching hurt my credit score?

Opening a new current account leaves a hard search on your credit file. One or two a year is fine; a dozen in a short window can hurt your score temporarily. Closing accounts via CASS doesn't itself damage your credit.

Do I have to actually use the new account?

Yes — every switch bonus requires the account to become your 'main' account for a period (usually 1–3 months). This means salary/income deposits, two active direct debits, and often a minimum number of debit card transactions.

Can I stack cashback on top of the switch bonus?

Sometimes. Topcashback and Quidco occasionally list bank current-account offers worth £10–£45. Where available, we flag them on this page. Always click through the cashback link first before opening the account.

What if I have a poor credit score?

Basic/starter accounts (like Monzo, Starling, Kroo) don't run credit checks and can still qualify for switch bonuses. Higher-tier packaged accounts (like Halifax Reward) do check credit.
